Welcome to Equine Encore Foundation
Equine Encore Foundation is a non-profit (501) (c) (3) corporation whose mission is to provide a retirement home for racehorses, both Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses, who have served the industry well but whose racing careers have come to an end and who deserve to hang up their racing plates and bask in the Arizona sun. As with all rescue operations, the major challenge is funding. We receive support from the industry with our major supporters being CARMA, Thoroughbred Charities of America, Second Call of Turf Paradise in Phoenix, AZ, The Arizona Racing Commission, the Arizona Quarter Racing Association and the Pima County Horsemen's Association. Support also comes from grateful racehorse owners and fans of the sport. We are working to establish a "social security" system for all racehorses through the racetracks but this is a difficult task. We are hopeful that horse lovers in general and racehorse lovers specifically will help us with their tax-deductible donations. Donations can be made online or mailed directly to us.

Mission

To provide a retirement home for racehorses (both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses) who are unable to pursue their racing careers because of age or injury. They serve the Racing Industry well but the time has come for them to hang up their racing plates and enjoy their golden years in the Arizona sunshine.

It seems that every year we are faced with some kind of crisis, and the Brennan Equine Welfare Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation always comes to our rescue!
This year we found ourselves with a lovely pregnant Thoroughbred mare. No foals have been born on our property for over 20 years so we had a lot of work to do. We had a large paddock that would do nicely as a delivery room but plywood panels had to be purchased and attached to the pipe fencing so that the baby could not accidentally slip through the fence.

We also needed to purchase a monitoring system so that we could be on hand to make sure the delivery went smoothly and to tend to the foal after birth. Thoroughbreds should never foal unattended! The new foal's navel needs to be cleaned with Betadine to prevent infection and the foal needs to be given one or more enemas to make sure that all of the meconium has passed.

Our precious chestnut filly arrived at 1:30 A.M. on May 14, 2018, and we were ready for her arrival thanks to the help we received from the Brennan folks! Many thanks from all of us at Equine Encore Foundation!

Through the years we have received support from Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) and we're happy to report that we have again been blessed with a grant from this sterling organization! Funding from TCA goes into our operating account allowing us to provide feed, veterinarian & farrier care and to maintain our facility. THANK YOU TCA!
